Our client has a new opportunity for a Trainee Streetlighting Line Mechanic to join their East Tamaki depot. Training and support will be given to achieve full qualifications.

The role

To keep up with the demand of work based in Auckland, Northpower offers on the job training working alongside our experienced Line Mechanics to gain a nationally recognised qualification. This is a two to three year programme, after which you will qualify with a National Certificate in Level 4 Electricity Supply Line Mechanic Distribution including you're EWRB Registration and current practising licence.

You will be supporting the maintenance and streetlight replacements of the distribution lines ensuring the customers' requirements are met in a timely, appropriate and efficient manner. You will be safety conscious and compliant with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.

This is an entry level role; no prior qualifications are required. We are seeking candidates with a solid work ethic and ideally a track record of two to three years' work experience, proven experience working outside, and committed to developing a solid career and learning a qualified skill set to become a qualified Line Mechanic.

There is range and variety of work, there will be some requirement for over-time pending projects.

What you will need:

  • Ideally, a minimum two years' work experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work at heights
  • Full class 1 driver's licence (NZ)
  • HT licence or digger operating experience an advantage
  • Team player
  • Physically fit as the job involves hands on physical work and climbing
  • Available for some weekend work
