Vestner NZ Limited is a leading designer and manufacturer of lifts and elevators as well as an importer of quality lift systems. It has many hundreds of lifts under service contracts throughout NZ with branches in Christchurch and Auckland. It is also heavily involved in modernisation work.
A 'hands-on' role - coordinate workshop activity; supervise, develop and support assembly staff; assemble lifts with a high degree of workmanship; support field technicians, ensure safe working practices, quality & efficient production output and deliver excellent customer outcomes and representation of the company and its values.
The role will commence as soon as possible.
Job tasks and responsibilities
•Assemble Vestner products and components & manufacture component parts as required
•Provide supervision and support to the workshop team liaising with other team members in day to day operations and planning
•Manage the performance of the team to achieve their specific accountabilities
•Minimise rework and production waste; monitor individual Assembly team members' performance providing training as appropriate
•Quality check manufactured components and assembled lifts
•Monitor stock levels whilst adopting the principals of 'lean manufacturing'
•Manage and monitor all Health & Safety systems within the workshop
•Provide technical support where required to ensure commitments are met to clients
Skills and experience
•Engineering (mechanical or electrical) trade qualified
•Experienced production supervisor & planner with knowledge of 'lean manufacturing' principals & supply scheduling
•Experience in precision component manufacturing and assembly
•Attention to detail and documentation requirements
•Team leadership and staff supervision skills
•Excellent customer management and communication skills with people at all levels
•Self starter who can problem solve, work under pressure, make decisions and use initiative
