Our Canterbury based business is a large corporate; run on family values and has one of the highest staff retention rates seen in the Canterbury market. As a result of the extensive growth and advancement of the business, we are seeking a trade qualified Mechanical Fitter to join the 500 strong team. This varied role will have you working as an integral member of the maintenance team focussing on providing sound mechanical, maintenance services across fixed plant systems, mobile plant and equipment, crane equipment; and material handling. Reporting to the Mechanical Foreman, you will undertake day-to-day planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns with a high level of urgency; and undertake installation and commissioning of project maintenance. This business is a 24/7 operation that provides a critical link from New Zealand to various high demand global networks.

This position is imperative for carrying out maintenance in a timely, professional and safe manner as per company procedures; and completing all compliance and Health & Safety documentation to a high standard. You will have previous experience working across multiple fixed and mobile plant systems, including but not limited to; heavy machinery, coal systems, bulk handling, water handling, and cargo operations.

You will be able to work a flexible, 7 week rotating roster across days, afternoons and one week of night shift. You will work four 10 hour shifts per week and be rewarded with a 3 day weekend; as well as a fantastic hourly rate well above market average.

To be successful in this role, you must have the following:
• Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting OR Maintenance & Diagnostics
• Current Driver’s License Class One (any other endorsements are desirable)
• No fear of heights or confined spaces
• Able and flexible to work a rotating shift roster as detailed above.
• PLC experience would be beneficial but not essential
• Be able to pass a pre-employment medical; and drug & alcohol test
