Within our Customers and Grid Projects division, the Programme Delivery Team Leader is a key new role in our newly configured Grid Works Delivery team which is accountable for the optimisation of multi-million-dollar programmes of technical delivery projects across multiple years, ensuring that the entire delivery system is maximised for both the current and long-term plan delivery.

This role is for a person who can think, challenge and influence up and down the supply chain and across a multitude of diverse stakeholders. You will support a highly skilled and professional team of Programme Managers and guide the continuous learning and improvement of the function to ensure the organisation successfully meets customer expectations.

You will play a key role in the strategic intervention on programme wide issues and maintain the necessary high profile of the team by supporting or enabling direct relationships/engagement with the delivery and planning process and teams across all levels of our business.

You will be responsible for the pastoral care of the geographically dispersed Programme Delivery Management team ensuring consistency of approach to programme management across all programmes and against changing needs and trends in the project environment. You will also identify and guide the capability development needed within a dynamically changing environment.

You will also play a key role ensuring that portfolio strategies consider the wider programme context and you will hold a critical assurance role in overviewing and challenging programme budgets.

The key focus areas of the team include;

  • driving discussions with our Grid Development division to ensure that works are optimised across multiple years and highlight optimum times for delivery of work based on site, network and resource availability
  • balance competing priorities and make risk trade-offs in delivery to ensure optimal service and commercial value e.g. through programme procurement processes
  • manage and deliver the programmes of work in line with the business plan and ensure smooth delivery of all aspects of the work plan, and all work defined is delivered on budget.
  • programme and schedule work over the medium and long-term horizons so that work is grouped in the most efficient way to ensure deliverability
  • ensure that information regarding delivery such as costs, time, quality and safety, are provided to key internal stakeholders to enable these to be taken into account in future strategic and tactical asset management decisions

You will be comfortable critiquing and challenging programme forecasts and articulating mitigation measures to the GMT alongside the Grid Works Delivery Manager.

To be considered, your career to date, cover letter and CV will demonstrate;

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to influence and drive change, internally and externally
  • A proven track record in a challenging programme management role (utilising multidimensional thinking not portfolio based)
  • Proven experience in achievement of significant organisational objectives through the management of a team of technical practitioners.
  • Proven leadership of large complex programme/s of work across multiple disciplines
  • A tertiary qualification in a technical area or the equivalent of 5-7 years’ experience in Programme Management

Highly regarded but not essential;

  • An understanding of the Power transmission industry or an organisation with large complex assets
  • Programme or Portfolio Management certification.
