Wellington Water is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to design and project-manage a portfolio of water and drainage asset renewal and upgrade projects and to provide technical support within the Wellington Water design team.

You will be a key member of our design team based in Petone/Hutt - you'll be self-motivated, adaptable, technically-capable and able to work collaboratively on multiple challenging and complex projects at any one time. You will thrive on developing sustainable, value added design solutions and you will be experienced in preparing and working with project briefs, optioneering and design reports, plans, tender documents, supervising works and managing projects. To be successful in this role you'll have:

  • demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the design of drainage and water infrastructure with at least 8-10 years' experience in this field
  • the ability to take the lead on complex issues and provide support and technical expertise to the team
  • a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent (Civil)
  • understanding of maintenance and construction practices and standards and legislative requirements
  • experience in valuing work and dealing with contractual disputes
  • strong analytical skills
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, able to put ideas across in a logical and coherent fashion
  • good interpersonal and communication skills
  • a current New Zealand driver's license
