We’re looking for someone who thrives in a busy and exciting environment to lead our Official Correspondence team on a day to day basis, and support the whole organisation by providing excellent advice related to parliamentary processes, the Official Information Act, and engagement with the public.  Most importantly, you’ll be part of an organisation that’s working hard to make a difference to New Zealand’s way of life.
This is a permanent role working as part of a diverse team, with opportunities to help shape and continually improve our processes and quality of delivery. Now is an exciting time to be working in the fast paced landscape of an environmental regulator. Our organisation works across issues relating to climate, land, ocean, hazardous substances, and new organisms.
You can expect your work to be dynamic, with input from people across all of the EPA’s roles and functions. Through your leadership, our processes will be as efficient as possible. You will provide advice and analysis on enquiries, Parliamentary Questions and correspondence, and you will manage the drafting of high quality, timely responses to requests made under the Official Information Act. Your efforts will directly contribute to ensuring the work of the EPA is well understood and that we are a proactive, open, transparent, and trusted regulator.  Not every day is the same.
Naturally resilient and agile, you will be able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences to convey the EPA’s advice effectively. You won't be afraid to challenge the status quo, and will freely share your ideas on how we can improve our processes.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who has knowledge of the machinery of government and demonstrates a passion for great communications, proactivity, creativity, and excellent interpersonal relations. In leading the official correspondence function on a day to day basis, you will not only make sure that we don’t drop the ball, but will also inspire others to care passionately about external engagement and tell the EPA story. The successful candidate will be:

  • Able and willing to bring about sustainable system changes, with excellent attention to detail
  • Performance driven, sensitive to how people and organisations function
  • A first class written and verbal communicator, with considerable influencing skills
  • Committed to high standards of professionalism
  • Demonstrably able to establish and maintain successful working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with others.
