About the role
This is a fixed term contract (finishing 30 June 2021) to act as the Programme Coordinator for the New Southern Sky (NSS) programme. The role sits within the NSS Programme Management Office supporting the Director NSS.
The role has the following focus areas:
- Benefits identification, management and realisation tracking at the national level.
- Programme management, risk and issue management, monitoring and reporting supporting Director NSS.
- Contract management under the AoG Services panel and the delivery of projects/studies from time to time.
A day in the life of the NSS Programme Coordinator will invariably be focused on helping to deliver an element of the modernisation of the New Zealand aviation system. However, there are several tasks that feature prominently. On any given day, you may be meeting with stakeholders (internal and external) to share information, establish AoG contracts for service delivery, promote changes, or discuss issues that need to be addressed.
You will be required to manage the NSS Programme risk and issues register, lead the PCT and report monthly into the NSS Programme Management Group and NSS Governance Group as required. This is where the blend of benefits and programme management skills, aviation experience and risk management skills are important.
You will be reviewing reports provided by both internal and external stakeholders. You will also be tracking project deliverables against timelines and identifying, and managing interdependent activities, risks and issues, all the while ensuring that stakeholders remain up to date with programme delivery.
This may include briefing stakeholders in semi-formal settings such as NSS Working Group meetings. The stakeholders range from other CAA units to airlines, recreational fliers, airports, other government departments, the NZDF, air traffic control (Airways), procedural designers (Aeropath), flight training organisations and helicopter emergency medical services.
What we're looking for someone who wants to build on their existing project and programme management skills in a safety focused and technically aware environment that will constantly challenge you. The successful candidate must have the ability to commence work in NZ without delay.
To be successful in this role you will have knowledge and experience in:
- Project and programme management qualifications (preferably PRINCE 2 and/or MSP)
- Benefits management and realisation
- Risk management
- All of Government Contract management
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders regarding technical and/or complex projects
- Understanding of New Zealand and international aviation regulatory frameworks
It would be helpful to have:
- Aviation experience and risk management skills
- Aviation technical knowledge including Performance Based Navigation
- Experience of working with large and/or complex programmes
