We seek a part time community support worker to work every alternate weekend (includes a sleepover on Saturday night). The job involves assisting 5 adult deaf-blind adult residents who are unable to live independently.

Who are you?
To be considered for this role, you must:
  • Be in a situation where you can commit to working alternate weekends for a reasonable time
  • Some previous experience with intellectual disabilities and/or sign language
  • Have some full or partial relevant qualification (e.g. level 2 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing)

Must haves:
  • A genuine caring personality
  • A full car driving license; we have an automatic van
  • No criminal record
  • Good verbal references
  • Clear spoken English.

It is an advantage if you know some sign language or you must be willing to learn some basics.

  • Every alternate weekend:
Saturday: 3-10 p.m.
Sleepover 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Sunday: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • You must also complete a rigorous orientation programme before assuming charge
  • Some additional work may be available on occasion (e.g. student holidays?)

  • $19/hour to start for regular work shift hours and currently $142/sleepover.
