He Waka Tapu works to increase the health and wellbeing of Whanau.

  • Are you solutions orientated with the ability to think outside the box to engage the community?

We require a competent and skilled person who can engage with individual Maori and their Whanau in the community. You will be required to walk alongside Whanau to encourage and tautoko change and hauora.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Working with Whai ora who are accessing the AOD programmes

  • Strength-focussed needs assessments

  • Active participation in goal planning and reviews

  • Active participation in integrated case management

  • Liaising with case managers, referrers and other related agencies

This is a new exciting opportunity for a proactive person with an understanding of the concept of Whanau Ora to take a lead role in the delivery of an important service for Maori Whanau. To guide and encourage Whanau in their plans to achieve autonomous wellbeing.

Applicants must have:

  • Work experience in either AOD, Social Work or Mental Health

  • Experience of working within a Kaupapa Maori environment

  • Has experience in assessment and goal setting

  • Has experience and knowledge of Tikanga Maori and Whakapapa

  • Is competent in networking with external providers and organisations

  • A full and clean drivers’ license.
