Applications are being invited for full time and fixed term positions from Intensivists who are passionate about providing the highest level of care to a diverse patient population!

Our Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Auckland City Hospital is a stand-alone Intensive Care department with 20 ICU and 8 HDU beds. We provide care to patients following all cardiothoracic and vascular surgery as well as heart and lung transplantation and mechanical cardiac and respiratory support. As the ideal person for this role, you will have experience in cardiothoracic intensive care and will have or be eligible for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council in Intensive Care Medicine and be a member of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand or equivalent. Experience in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography and ECMO would be an advantage.

You will work closely with a small team of Intensive care specialists and nurses so collegiality and good communication skills will be valued. The position involves provision of consultant level cover for the ICU and HDU including after hours on call availability and it may be possible to combine this position with roles in cardiac anaesthesia or other areas within the hospital or University of Auckland Medical School.

We are looking to fill a permanent position but a fixed term position for 1-2years with a possibility of becoming a permanent position may be possible.
