We are dedicated to providing affordable and accessible recreation and leisure opportunities that encourage participation and enhance the health and wellbeing of our community.

We are looking for enthusiastic, qualified, experienced and customer focused people to join our Lifeguard teams. As one of our lifeguards you would be a part of a wider swimming and recreation team within the Hamilton City Council's Community Services unit.

To be a lifeguard with us you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Hold a current Pool or Beach Lifeguard qualification and a first aid certificate
  • Have life guarding experience
  • Have a great can-do attitude to ensure you are able to always deliver excellent customer service
  • Be a team player, someone who can roll-up their sleeves and make things happen

In addition, you'll need to be able to work as rostered any day Monday to Sunday at either Waterworld or Gallaghers Aquatic Centre in Hamilton.

What happens next?

If you are short-listed we will contact you to arrange a practical assessment where you will be required to:

  • Swim 200m under 6 minutes
  • Complete a depth test swim to the bottom of the dive pool (4.6) and collect an object

Candidates who successfully achieve the practical test will be invited to a formal interview with our hiring team.
