The Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery (24HS), a division of Pegasus Health, is committed to providing a high quality, 24 hour urgent medical and accident care to the people of Canterbury in our new facility at 401 Madras Street.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and committed Nurse Practitioner with leadership experience to be part of the Pegasus Health 24 Hour Surgery team. The Lead Nurse Practitioner provides a high standard of professional leadership and advanced nursing practice; as well as developing extended nursing pathways and training programmes for Nurse Practitioners. The role works closely within the clinical teams to improve sustainable access to and standards of clinical care for people accessing acute level services.

This role will require the following:

  • An innovative approach to problem-solving that is inclusive and understanding of other disciplines, team members, and services
  • The ability to coordinate staff at all levels across the care continuum
  • The ability to exercise sound judgement and negotiation skills aimed at achieving people-centred outcomes and empowerment to make decisions and recommendations related to urgent care services and enhancing professional nursing practice across the region

Skills and experience

Be registered as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, preferably with a minimum of four years recent clinical experience in both the urgent and primary care setting.

You will demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of medico-legal and ethical responsibilities within the New Zealand urgent care clinical setting and have experience in mentoring, coaching, and informal teaching.

You will be enthusiastic and passionate about improving healthcare for the people of Canterbury. Working well under pressure, whilst offering exceptional patient care at all times, will be second nature to you.

You will be required to promote equitable access to health care and equitable outcomes.
