The Team: What we do

The West Adult Community Mental Health team provide an assessment and treatment service for consumers with mental illnesses aged between 18 - 65 years, and work closely with their families/whanau - both in the community and alongside inpatient services.

Inpatient care is provided through Te Awakura Adult Inpatient Group where the model of care focuses on single integrated multi-disciplinary teams, incorporating both inpatient and outpatient teams, providing excellent care to consumer in the least restrictive manner.

The West Community team leads the clinical care delivered to consumers throughout all episodes of care provided for the West of Christchurch.

The Role: Where you fit in

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated Registered Nurse, which requires strong clinical and operational leadership skills. You will have developed clinical expertise in mental health over a minimum of five years.

In this role, you will be working in a forward thinking, changing and sometimes challenging environment and be part of an innovative multi-disciplinary team who works in collaboration to provide high quality care and treatment for consumers and their family/whanau.

With your proven ability to lead, you will be an expert at developing and extending practice.

  • You will assist with performance appraisals, provide overall clinical expertise and mentorship within the teams, to enable them to continue to deliver a high standard of care
  • You will have well demonstrated leadership qualities and be able to communicate effectively and form positive working relationships at all levels
  • You will be responsible for developing and managing allocated portfolios
  • Facilitate and provide high quality professional practice and provide expert leadership within our service
  • You will demonstrate an ability to work in an integrated and collaborative manner with our inpatient teams and across the wider mental health system
  • It is expected in the role that you are a Duly Authorised Officer for the Mental Health Act, and if not training will be provided
  • You will be working in a roster pattern that includes a combination of both Monday to Friday and 4x2 roster pattern
