Summary
We’re looking for a sporty and energised Youth Worker to join our Southern Lakes Real service. If you are passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing, and would like to work with a great team, we want to hear from you.
You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm.

You
As a youth worker, you’ll apply your skills, creative ideas and expertise to work collaboratively with team members and partner agencies to get the best outcome for our youth and their families/ whanau. You will support young people in the service to develop life skills and resilience, provide support with practical problem solving, support around daily life skills like homework, cooking and cleaning, supporting outings and schoolwork, and liaising with family/ whanau and other providers.
You’ll work in a supportive and fun team environment and be fully supported by your team coach to be the best youth worker you can be. Making sure your personal wellbeing is thriving is important to us.
In this role, no two days will be the same! You’ll focus on:
• helping the young people you work with to realise their full potential
• mentoring young people with the skills to build strong relationships with friends, whanau and community
• immersing yourself in the community.

Role requirements:
• a certificate in mental health or other relevant NZQA qualification at level 4 or above, or be willing to complete a relevant qualification within 2 years of commencing employment
• a current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• a current New Zealand first aid certificate, or be prepared to obtain one.


It would be an advantage if you have:
• an understanding of trauma-informed care and experience working with young people and their families
