We are seeking applications from Consultant Psychiatrists with a current Annual Practising Certificate for this newly established role for the Northern Region.
The Northern Region Training Programme comprises the three Auckland metro DHBs and Northland DHB and is the largest and most diverse programme in New Zealand. This represents an opportunity to support our registrars who are required to undertake various aspects of psychotherapy training to complete RANZCP training and the Psychotherapy Written Case without prolonging their training. This role includes assisting registrars to obtain appropriate clients and supervision for their psychotherapy cases and educating and supporting trainees and supervisors.
The role is independent and a high standard of integrity, ethics and understanding of boundary issues is essential. You will need to be accredited or accreditable as a Psychotherapy Written Case supervisor in the Auckland Regional Psychiatric Registrar Training Programme which includes:
- Being a current or recent practitioner of psychodynamic psychotherapy
- Having had at least two years of supervision in psychodynamic therapy
- Participation in further professional development in psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Organisational, administrative and leadership skills are essential as is good knowledge of the RANZP psychotherapy requirements and familiarity with Northern Region Mental Health Services and the Tiriti O Waitangi in the clinical context.
You will work collaboratively with the College, the VTC Chair, the Director of Training, the Director of the Formal Education Programme, the University of Auckland, Registrar Training Facilitators, Supervisors and Trainees and this requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to build positive networks.
