We have a successful and busy function and event venue called The Gatsby Room and are looking for an experienced candidate to be responsible for this area of the business. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Functions Coordinator will be responsible for all communication with the clients to plan and run each function and event, ensuring a high level of service to guests at all times across all aspects of restaurant and functions operations. Shift work and weekend work will be required in this role also working with the restaurant team in Emporium when needed.

Aspects of the role will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the venue The Gatsby Room. Keeping the room organized, tidy and always presentable. Responsible for the storage, care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Corresponding, quoting and confirming all function, events and group bookings that come through both hotel and the restaurant directly with the clients.
  • Responsible for running the events, leading a team of staff to provide excellent customer service and outstanding guest experiences.
  • Taking initiative to identify clients needs and meet them.
  • Having the necessary skills, training and temperament to actively resolve concerns and challenges presented by guests. Candidate must have previous hospitality experience.
  • Strong technical skills in Word and Excel.
  • Must support marketing plans, promotion and brand awareness.
  • Maintain positive relationship with clients, actively identify new potential clients and exceed sales targets.

The ideal person will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience working in hospitality based functions and events.
  • Knowledge on running corporate functions, conferences, trainings and other events.
  • Detail oriented, organized and excellent communication skills.
  • Have a sense of urgency, work quickly and be able to adapt under pressure.
  • The ability to improvise, be flexible and contribute to the team when/where needed.
