Top Energy is a modern, multi-faceted Group which has operations throughout the Far North. The Company is privately owned by a power consumer trust and employs staff in Geothermal Generation, Distribution and Transmission Lines operations.

We are seeking a Health, Safety and Risk Manager to be the safety and risk champion, managing and enhancing the health and safety performance and risk compliance of the Group along with having ownership of the Safety Management and Risk Management Systems.

This position will report to the General Manager Finance and will be based at our Kerikeri office.

Key areas of focus will be:

  • Developing the annual Group Health and Safety Plan and work programme, leading and championing initiatives
  • Partnering with the business to establish, monitor, enhance and exceed safety objectives
  • Maintaining and reviewing safety management systems, continuously evaluating procedures and practices, implementing improvements and solutions
  • Process safety for Geothermal Major Hazard Facilities, including participation in Process Safety Management activities and exercises
  • Risk Management - management of enterprise and operational risk aligning with ISO 31000
  • Incident Management response, investigation and reporting
  • Preparing a range of reports, communications and alerts as required, up to Board level
  • Managing employee health monitoring and provide support to rehabilitating employees

To succeed in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Safety with at least ten years' experience in Health and Safety management. An extensive understanding of Health and Safety legislation and a good understanding of the ERA is required. It is essential that you also have experience in managing enterprise risk and incident investigations, with previous exposure to the electricity industry beneficial.
