Do you think people are the most important asset?

Then we're off to a good start.

We're Powerco, and people are at the heart of our business. Be it the 420,000 customers we have across our gas and electricity networks who rely on us to keep the lights on, and the energy flowing, our 400 plus employees across New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington and Tauranga, or the hundreds of field staff who help us ensure our networks remain available 24/7.

We've got a lot to cover, being New Zealand's largest electricity and gas distributor in terms of network length. And that means we're there day in and day out making sure we deliver, as people rely on our service and it's a responsibility we take very seriously. In short, people are at the heart of our organisation. And that's why we relentlessly strive to keep everyone safe by challenging what we can do to improve safety leadership, culture and systems.

HSEQ at Powerco

It's vital to us. We're committed to keeping our staff, public and contractors safe. With over 30,000km in electricity networks and 6,000km in gas networks, preventing harm to our people and the environment is our number one priority. That's where our HSEQ advisors play a key role supporting our Electricity, Gas and Corporate teams as well as our service providers who work on our network.

We're looking for a seasoned HSEQ Advisor who sees themselves as an influential leader with a strong collaborative focus, an analytical mind and someone who can think ahead to help Powerco's safety and environmental culture continue to be proactive towards identifying issues and challenges before they develop. Health, Safety, Environment and Quality are all very important to us which is why we take a true multi discipline approach giving our advisors a broad focus to support the business in these vital areas.

Your opportunity

You will be based in New Plymouth and form part of the HSEQ Operations team who support our wider Electricity and Gas businesses to ensure everyone gets home safe and healthy every day.

We're a place where things get done, where no one is a cog in a wheel, we all contribute and celebrate success together. Your career to date will show that you have a strong ability to influence operational leaders towards good decision making, have a high attention to detail, an ability to understand and challenge failure modes and have always kept up with training and development in your profession. Once you're on-board we will continue to help you stay at the forefront of HSEQ. As a professional HSEQ advisor you'll bring with you a passion and a strong commitment to continuous improvement in Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems as well as the ability to see people as the solution not the problem. Plus, your experience from working in energy sectors will mean you're equally as comfortable looking at and analysing data as you are at coaching out in the in the field, collaborating with diverse teams or influencing in the boardroom taking a proactive approach to HSEQ.
