The role

The position of IT Progress Developer/Analyst is responsible for developing and supporting the software application and interfaces, ensuring that people, process and technology work together to achieve timely and accurate delivery of information to support FXNZ business.



Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and support new systems and maintain/enhance existing systems to meet the company's existing and future requirements in line with standard software development disciplines.
  • Provide first line support to business users. This may involve core work hours and after-hours support.
  • Maintain programs and procedures to be used in the day-to-day running of the company's computer and application systems.
  • Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and thoroughly tested so that planned actions can be carried out when required.
  • Work with users to determine the cause of any program, application, interface or database problems and provide solutions, including problem escalation to external support suppliers if in-house support is unable to provide an adequate solution.
  • Daily monitoring of interface programs and messages to ensure all data exchange between systems are processed in a timely and efficient manner. Report and troubleshoot any anomalies.
  • Monitor machines held off site (DMZ) to ensure that external resources can be accessed and updated (Website and Remote warehouse).
  • Creating software, DB and documentation in conjunction with the design and architecture of the software applications in FXNZ ensuring application optimization and functionality.

About you

  • 3+ years' commercial experience in a similar area
  • Worked with Sonic MQ.
  • Build effective partnerships and working relationships with stakeholders.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences or similar.
  • Worked with multiple software technologies and languages but primarily Progress DB, SQL, XML, Unix/Linux OS.
  • Experience in Supply Chain (Inventory and Logistics), Dispatch, Call Centre or billing environment, ERP in general (product knowledge of Astea software solutions a specific advantage).
  • Excellent understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and basic UML concepts.
  • Progress DB, SQL, XML, Unix/Linux OS.
  • Manage the integrity and integration of software used across the platform/s to ensure quality and inter-operability.
  • Develop business solutions through integrated ESB technologies.

  • Strong problem solving skills, analytical and decision making skills.
