Reporting to the Head of Peer Review Policy & Research Integrity, this role will focus on research integrity best practice improvement and the provision of market insight and recommendations to help inform editorial policy and research integrity strategy.

A go-to person on research integrity, the Peer Review Policy & Research Integrity Manager will act as a policy and initiative champion with colleagues and external customers. The role-holder will also be responsible for performing journal audits and making recommendations at the journal level for improvement based on industry best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and updating reporting mechanisms to track and monitor research integrity performance and to highlight areas for improvement Identifying and implementing improvements for research integrity practice with cross-department input, deploying continuous improvement strategies where required
  • Supporting and advising Editorial colleagues on editorial policy and research integrity best practice
  • Handling confidential information confidently and sensitively, with consideration for the legal and ethical issues that may arise from any mishandling
  • Auditing journals for adherence to peer review and research integrity industry best practice
  • Researching the research integrity landscape and customer experience to build a knowledge bank and inform new policies and processes
  • Proactively making new contacts and building long-term relationships with key external stakeholders in the research integrity landscape
  • Developing and presenting workshops for internal and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience of:

  • The journals publishing environment, with clear grasp of peer review models and best practice
  • Coaching and building effective working relationships
  • Effective prioritisation, productive communication, and excellent organisational skills
  • Effective people skills and ability to teamwork, network and build relationships internally and externally
  • Data management and reporting
  • Proactive management of projects; familiarity with process improvement principles would be a distinct advantage

You will be required to conduct presentations on a regular basis and attend events across the globe. The induction training session will be held in the UK and you will be required to travel there shortly after you start for a few weeks.
