WES specalises in the manufacture and repair of mining, rail, marine, power generation and oil & gas equipment. WES is looking to expand its work force and is in search of 1st Class Machinist to join its strong and diverse team.

The following positions are available
• 1st Class Machinist- with experience in, In-situ machining, line boring, milling, flange facing, radial milling
• 1st Class Machinist-Turner Conventional and Vertical Borer experience
• 1st Class Machinist- Horizontal Borer experience
• 1st Class Machinist- Multi skilled with Turning, Milling and Boring experience.

The ideal candidate will have the following Qualifications, Experience and Key features
• Relevant trade qualification
• Able to read and interpret drawings
• Minimum 5 years trade experience
• Good work ethics
• Good understanding of ISO G-code programming
• Strong experience with FANUC control systems preferred
• Good communication skills
• Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team
• Experience in a jobbing shop environment
• Able to determine the most efficient work holding methods
• Able to determine the best manufacture process
• Demonstrate safe work practices
• Reliable transportation
• Work fast and efficiently
• Mechanical fitting experience would be desirable
• Forklift license desirable
• Dogging/Rigging desirable but not essential
• CAM programing desirable but not essential
Key Task
• Setting up of machines
• Day to day maintenance of machines
• Machine parts & components as required
• Read and understand mechanical drawings
• Selection of tools, cutters and inserts
• Edit modify programs as necessary
• Carry out tasks as directed by the workshop manager & foreman
• Operate the overhead cranes in a safe manner
• Packing of goods after completion
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace
• Cleaning machines
• Use precision measuring equipment
• Complete time sheets and job cards
• Fill out machining dimensional check sheets
• Monitor equipment condition and report faults

A Remuneration package will be based on the applicants experience and ability to perform the work initial use of a vehicle and/or accommodation can be discussed if required and can be included in your package.

Normal Workshop hours are from 6:00am till 5:00pm Monday to Friday and 6:00am till 11:00am Saturday
Successful applicants will be expected to work approx. 50 hrs. per week within the above normal workshop hours.

• 4 axis horizontal borer
• various 3 axis machining centers up to 2000mm

The majority of which have FANUC controllers.
