Our client is looking for a Health and Safety Lead to join their organisation, this will be an integral member of the leadership team with management responsibility for the development of a high performing team culture across the division, contributing to the development of appropriate strategies to develop operational capability.
The primary role of the Health & Safety Lead is to work across the Foods Division to build a genuine safety first culture and reduce the number, frequency and severity of Health & Safety incidents by providing leadership, planning, advice and technical support to the operational teams.
This role will oversee the management of Health & Safety initiatives on the respective site(s) by delivering coaching of key functional and line managers in the implementation and continuous improvement across Health & Safety processes. Through coaching and facilitation, the role will empower site personnel to actively contribute to the creation of sustainable Health & Safety culture and performance.
Relevant operations or H&S workplace experience
Proven experience in influencing site personnel to take personal ownership of H&S
Relevant Degree or Formal H&S qualification (i.e. Diploma)
Relevant experience or certification in train-the-trainer
Minimum five or more years' experience in a SH&E position in a manufacturing environment
Experience in varying manufacturing and distribution environments.
Proven track record of success in SH&E management.
Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) and other relevant legislation.
Ability to interpret legislation.
Auditing skills against relevant standards.
Personal time and priority management.
Report writing - audit, incident
Risk assessment - including JSA's, Risk Assessments and development of SOP's
Strong people leadership and excellent communication skills
Deliver agreed objectives/targets to agreed time frames.
Computer literate - across both MS Office and manufacturing applications
Proven ability to work within and lead teams.
Ability to influence others and lead projects
Ability to coach, mentor and train.
