Production Manager (Otago Based)

Fluid Recruitment are proud to recruit for a leading meat processing company in the South Island who is now seeking an individual to manage the production, efficiencies and staff management of their plant.

About the role:

Managing a seasonal operation, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic and day to day operations management of the meat processing plan, developing seasonal operating plans that will optimise the plant capacity, seasonal staffing and resources and maximise production yields. You will be a motivated leader who enjoys growing and developing leaders and staff performance. The role offers an exciting challenge within an evolving and high demand industry.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operational management of the day to day activities of the processing plant
  • Relationship Management with Key suppliers, clients and internal supervisors
  • Creation and implementation of continuous improvement procedures and processes
  • People leadership, managing performance and production as well as active involvement within HR and Recruitment processes
  • Implementation of Quality assurance systems and assurance procedures
  • Management and oversight of relevant Health and Safety and Food safety compliance
  • Financial Management, preparation and management of the annual operating budget

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Proven experience in managing production/operations is essential
  • Demonstrated experience within meat processing or a relevant field is mandatory
  • A hands on and versatile management style
  • Skills and experience in managing QA inspection and QA processes
  • Budget allocation and finance management experience
  • Good level of understanding of associated production plant and equipment is essential
  • Experience in successfully managing a diverse variety of staff and creating a positive team atmosphere
