- Opportunity to make your mark
This is a fantastic opportunity for a communications specialist to join an organisation that really makes a difference for children. Save the Children New Zealand (SCNZ) is a long-standing member of Save the Children Association which supports child-focussed programmes and advocacy in more than 120 countries around the world. SCNZ implements a portfolio of development projects across nine countries, responds to humanitarian events world-wide, and advocates for the rights of children to ensure children are healthy, nourished, protected and learning.
The role requires a communication expert who can be both strategic and tactical. You will develop a strategic plan that supports and grows our fundraising, and our voice for children through advocacy and campaigns. The development of a strategy and its implementation will require you to work with colleagues across the world so that the organisation is cohesive and effective.
As the Communications Specialist you will work across the full remit of communications including traditional and digital methods, management of media enquiries and press releases, and the development of key messages and publicity material relevant to diverse audiences. You must have demonstrated success in working with the media and building effective media partnerships. The role is primarily outward focused but some internal communications will be required.
The successful candidate will have experience gained within a communications and marketing role, have been exposed to project management processes and have experience tailoring messages and PR material to diverse audiences. You pride yourself on your attention to detail, verbal and written communication, as well as your ability to build relationships across all levels. Above all you must be passionate, dynamic and believe in your ability to make a difference.
Whilst this role has a strategic focus, you will still need to be the type of person who is happy to roll up their sleeves and produce the day/day communications. Your aptitude for identifying opportunities to lift the profile of this organisation through a range of channels will also be important in the role. As SCNZ work internationally (including responding to emergencies) you may be required to travel internationally and work additional hours.
