Do you want to be at the forefront of shaping the future direction of Wellington City? We need an experienced and talented Principal Advisor to work in the Place Planning team. You will help drive the implementation of the Planning for Growth work programme. This exciting multi-year programme involves both the development of a city-wide spatial plan, and a full review of the District Plan.
Applicants with experience in the following areas should consider applying:
- Development and implementation of urban growth strategies
- District plan reviews
- Engagement with communities on housing, business and intensification
- Natural hazards and resilience
- Heritage, character and development economics
This is a leadership and mentoring role within the Place Planning team but with no direct reports. You need to be a self-starter with lots of initiative, have excellent organisational skills, and be comfortable working across a number of projects, as well as other teams within the business unit, and across the Council. You will also need to be comfortable working with other local authorities in the Wellington Region, as well as central government. A tertiary qualification in resource management or a related planning qualification, and at least 10 plus years' experience working in a relevant central or local government agency, or the private sector is also required.
