This role is for a highly experienced interior designer responsible for managing multiple projects ranging from small to large sized commercial projects, of basic to complex scope with minimal supervision. The role requires a high level of organisation, creativity and technical design capability to lead internal teams including assisting designers with technical construction design details and managing multiple projects concurrently from concept to completion. The Senior Designer reports to the Director of Design.

Skills / Knowledge

NZ specific experience, 10+ years, which is necessary for team/project leadership role
Industry recognised diploma or degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
Design documentation at an excellent production level.
High level of technical and construction-based knowledge.
Advanced CAD rendering visualisation and presentation skills
A functional understanding of the Building Code as it relates to commercial design, and extensive creative and technical design skills evidenced by a number of high quality interiors project achievements completed in NZ.
Able to take responsibility for the development of the design and the project
Understanding of financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget
Able to deal with the management of junior & intermediate designers on the team
To seek continuing professional development
Exceptional communication skills (written and spoken English) in order to articulate and present concepts and ideas clearly and persuasively at all levels
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team
Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently
Good knowledge of industry suppliers, consultants, contractors
Able to use the following: REVIT or AutoCAD, Sketch up, PhotoShop, InDesign, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Drive and enthusiasm to inspire and lead other team members
Hard working, conscientious and highly organised approach
An approachable and professional manner with clients and suppliers and ability to build and maintain relationships
Ability to encourage a calm, positive environment with a flexible and good humoured approach
