We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer ideally with previous communications experience. You might have worked for a newspaper, magazine, or in a communications role with an organisation or agency. We would also consider applications for a motivated new graduate keen to start their career in public relations and communications.
The Communications Officer works across the wider Council organisation with a great variety of responsibilities including working with Council staff and our elected representatives. You'll need to be confident writing for a range of communications channels including websites, social media, newsletters and media releases. It's a role where you will be encouraged to be creative and develop communications plans to promote news and projects to internal and external audiences and stakeholders.
The right person will have the following skills & attributes:
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- The ability to build strong relationships
- Awareness of trends and developments in media and communications
- Website and social media management skills
- Organisational skills, ability to multi-task effectively and be calm under pressure
- Initiative, creativity and a strong work ethic
- A good sense of humour and a positive attitude
- An interest in our community and Council
