Reference Yard Manager
Hometown ITM, located in Foxton on the west coast of the Horowhenua and Manawatu regions, is the local building and rural supply specialist.

We are flat out busy so we are now looking for a Yard Manager to take control of our yard and delivery operations.

This is a newly created and senior role in our business.

Reporting to the Manager, the purpose of this role is to oversee the entire timber yard operation.

You will understand what it takes to keep a timber yard well stocked and tidy whilst you drive sales, increase gross profit, maintain exceptional yard standards and keep customers coming back for more!

This will see you taking accountability for:
• Ensuring the yard is effectively managed and maintained at all times;
• Timber purchasing;
• Scheduling and management of all truck deliveries to our customers sites;
• Managing and working with the yard team (currently 3 including driver) to continually improve stock availability and inventory controls;
• Ensuring customers are our number one priority and receive a level of service second to none;
• Overseeing team members to ensure they are performing their role as required, promoting a team culture that encourages a positive working environment; and
• Leading the health and safety development across the yard (in conjunction with the H&S Administrator).

We are looking for someone who has:
• Relevant and proven experience within the building industry and/or knowledge of building supplies and timber.
• Minimum Class 2 heavy vehicle licence and F (forklift) endorsement.
• Sound experience in managing and mentoring staff;
• Strong organisational skills;
• Exceptional administration and systems experience;
• A passion for customer service excellence; and
• Ability to manage a varied and busy work load.

This is an across the business role where you will also spend considerable time in the retail/trade store areas.

This role is about growing the store and enhancing the customer experience while helping develop people, so the successful candidate will be someone who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and work in the business to obtain results.

Experience is a must however considerable training will be offered. Relevant experience in the building supply industry would be highly advantageous.

Our store hours are 7.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays 8.00am - 12.00pm.

The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 7.15am – 4.30pm and Saturdays 8.00am – 12.00pm (by roster).

Remuneration will be based on industry standard rates reflecting the position and experience of the preferred candidate.

Employment for the successful candidate can commence from Monday 12th February 2018.
