Mapei in New Zealand are looking to appoint an experienced, proactive Technical Sales Representative with the ability to support and expand our business in the South Island.

This role requires someone that has a building trade qualification in addition to sales experience to read and understand technical drawings and associate with Architects, designers, engineers, and specifiers.

The candidate would have the ability to associate across a broad sector of the market to develop new business through distributors, specifications and applicators.

This position is considered a key appointment to sustain the on-going expansion of the company.

Ideally you will possess the following:

Passion to combine trade experience with sales

Practical knowledge in using Mapei's products or similar

Experience explaining and demonstrating products to customers.

Experience in developing new business and account management

A background in the building/construction/ceramic industry or similar

A professional approach with the ability to chase and close a sale.

Good time management and problem solving skills

Strong presentation skills with the ability to develop presentations and proposals

Ability to achieve and exceed sales targets
Intermediate computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Ability to write specifications for clients
Confident and authoritative speaker and also confident in your own abilities

An outgoing and friendly personality with strong attention to detail

A high degree of self-motivation with resilience and persistence

Personal ambition and a passion for selling

Ability to communicate with people at all levels
Strong negotiation skills and are results orientated
