Our client is Wellington region's largest and leading locksmith and electronic security company trading since 1979 and they are currently on the lookout for their next trainee locksmith to join the ranks.
This is an exciting apprenticeship opportunity for a positive and ambitious individual looking to cement themselves into a highly engaged team that strive to do better every day.
The company has well established management systems in place, they embrace technology, are security licensed by the Ministry of Justice and its health and safety systems comply with SiteSafe SiteWise "Green" and WorkSafe SafePlus "Operational" statuses.
With an amazing team and progression pathway in place, they are now looking to take on an additional trainee locksmith technician to learn from the ground up about traditional and new-age electronic locksmithing.
Our ideal candidate will have some hands-on technical, mechanical, or applicable experience and be comfortable learning various computer programmes.
Initially, you will be required to work in a busy retail lock shop. Being customer facing and learning the basics. Some overtime work will be required.
This is an entry level position into the locksmithing industry and likely to lead to a formal NZQA L4 locksmith apprenticeship and/or MLAA Master Locksmith certification, progressing to a mobile field technician position in traditional locksmithing with the potential to move into electronic security.
After 12 months of service, you will be required to meet the Ministry of Justice, Security Technician Certificate of Approval (security license) requirements.
Your pay will reflect your experience, competency and potential. Uniform and basic tools of trade will be supplied, on the job training provided and subsidised medical insurance will be offered.

- Great communication and people skills - with a desire to maintain good relationships with customers, suppliers and other team members.
- Have a current NZ drivers' licence (although not an immediate need, this will be a future requirement)
- The ability to work well under pressure.
