Marina Crew Dock Master (Night Shift Position)

The Team:
This is a great team, that work extremely closely together and your positive, upbeat and calm attitude is vital to this role. With lots of growth and development going on at the waterfront at the moment there is lots of room for long-term career progression.

The Role:
A customer focused service is imperative to this role, from dealing with visitors, and customers you will be engaging with a variety of personalities.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Providing first point of contact for marina customers
  • Answer customer enquiries and process berth bookings after office hours
  • Meet and greet arriving boats
  • Assist with dock (mooring) lines
  • Security experience desired
  • Assist with preliminary administration tasks
  • Ensure proper and appropriate power and water connections to arriving boats
  • Ensure arriving customers are informed of facilities including sewage disposal, rubbish disposal etc.
  • Maintain tidy appearance of facilities and essential minor maintenance as required including regularly removing floating rubbish from water-space
  • Monitor berthage and activities at the marina and ensure compliance with the Marina bylaws and terms and conditions
  • Man the security control room as requested monitoring CCTV screens
  • Provide emergency assistance as required including towing of disabled vessels in a way that is consistent with health and safety policy and practices
  • Appropriately enforce Marina Rules and Vessel Maintenance guidelines
  • Respond to car park security and towing issues
  • Collect and secure shower and laundry monies
  • Provide a visible, proactive, energetic and effective security presence for Marina
  • Reporting and record keeping as required

Skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working in the marine industry (would be an advantage but not essential)
  • Physically fit
  • First Aid (would be an advantage but not essential)
  • Swimming (important requirement of the role)
  • Energetic and motivated
  • Customer service

You will need the following to be successful:

  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Have 2 working references
  • Clear criminal history
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass eye test
