EMS stands for Electronic Monitoring System, and your job as an EMS Officer is to ensure effective electronic monitoring of offenders/defendants in the community.
The key responsibilities of this role are to accurately and effectively respond to all call outs and to follow the procedures, protocols and guidelines as set by FIRST Security, the Department of Corrections and the Monitoring Centre Management.
You need excellent communication skills for a job like this, as you will work with a huge variety of people every day- from Probation Officers, to families and support agencies, and our Monitoring Centre teams. Attention to detail and following instructions is critical for a role like this, and we maintain a very high standard of service to the Department of Corrections at all times. You will also need to be technology minded to ensure you can effectively and accurately fit, check, or remove the monitoring devices- this is one area where mistakes just can’t happen.
This might sound like a lot, but we offer you a great training programme and support, to ensure you have all of the skills and knowledge you need to succeed. What you need to bring with you to be successful in the role is:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Time Management skills
• Self-confidence and resilience in the face of tough situations
• Full Driving License
• Problem solving ability
There are a few other requirements that are important, such as the ability to pass background checks, and obtain a Security Certificate of Approval and Security Clearance - however we will help you obtain those if you don’t have them already.
