Have you considered a Career with Port Otago in our Marine & Infrastructure Division? This team provides experience and expertise in the safe handling of vessels calling at Port Chalmers, a key NZ international gateway port.

Reporting to the General Manager Marine & Infrastructure, the Technical Supervisor Marine ensures the safe, efficient and economic performance of Port Otago Ltd vessels. The person in this role could have a general diesel engineering background with exposure to maintenance planning systems. A key part of this role will be to work with maintenance planning and transfer the fleets records to our system Maximo. This role will also develop policies, procedures, and objectives in the areas of risk and health and safety management.

To be successful in this role, applicants will need to possess:

  • An engineering qualification with exposure to marine an advantage
  • Exposure to maintenance planning systems
  • An excellent Health and Safety record
  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Supervisory experience

The Technical Supervisor Marine will adhere to all relevant Maritime NZ operational and environmental regulations, whilst taking all applicable steps to ensure that all on water assets are performing at the expected standard. In addition to this, this role will ensure compliance with the Maritime Operators Safety System (MOSS) at all times. The successful candidate will act in a way as to support an honest and cohesive team environment.

Pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing will be required of preferred applicants, reference checking and full background and Ministry of Justice checks will be conducted.
