Location South Otago, Otago

Lumbr is one of New Zealand’s leading wood-energy-for-business companies. Across Otago, we supply premium fuel-grade wood chips to forward-thinking schools, retirement villages, hospitals, hotels and process heat users. In doing so, we convert low-grade log material from forest harvesting to high-value renewable energy. A great story of fuel grown in our own backyards.

We are looking for a hands-on and versatile supervisor with a “can-do” work ethic to lead our small Milton-based team.

You will be:
  • responsible for running our chip production facility in Milton, managing wood chip production and controlling the dispatch of fuel-grade chips so that our customers never “run dry” of “to spec” wood fuel;
  • supervising up to 2 direct reports in a hands-on work environment;
  • operating a range of materials handling equipment, including a telehandler, log loader and industrial log chipper;
  • during peak times, help deliver wood chips using one of our wood chip delivery trucks (training included if no truck license held);
  • doing day-to-day maintenance of plant and machinery; and
  • developing positive relationships with a range of subcontractors and suppliers to get things done to high standards.

It is essential that you have:
  • experience working with heavy machinery such as diggers or other materials handling equipment;
  • an ability to work independently with little oversight;
  • a Class 4 drivers licence (or willingness to get license at Lumbr's cost, note: conditions apply);
  • a willingness to, from time to time, work on weekends and public holidays;
  • a commitment to keeping your colleagues and yourself safe in the workplace.

This is a full-time position that comes with remuneration in line with experience. A staff uniform, use of mobile phone and iPad will be provided. Please note that police vetting and reference checks are an integral part of the application procedure.
