I’ve had these lithograph preserving labels for over 20 years and instead of intending to sell them individually framed, I’ve decided to sell them all as one lump sum. There are approx 110’000 in total.

Apparently these labels were discovered in a locked cellar room in the St George factory in Dunedin when it was being demolished in the 1970's. The original boxes of labels were stacked in pile, with the bottom boxes having rotted due to rising damp and the upper boxes remaining in mostly excellent and original condition. I have seen some individual labels occasionally being sold on trademe and at local auctions. As far as I am aware this is the mother load of labels.

In the early days of eBay, I sold quite a few and got very good prices. Most went to the USA. Due to my line of work I stopped selling and placed them into storage. I have had several framed up and they look fantastic (see photos). I haven’t tried the Australian market (or the New Zealand market for that matter) even though the Peacock brand certainly have a strong Australian connection, with the Peacock brand originally being an Australian company and having Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Brisbane (incl Dunedin) printed on the labels.

The labels are carefully stacked into 7 lockable metal boxes which are ideal for storage and shipping would be ideal. Although I’ve not counted each individual label, I am confident there are approx 110’000. The boxes are heavy and have not yet managed to weigh them. They will of course be weighed when the time comes for their departure.
