Description
This four-piece, electro, indie-rock group from Dunedin deserves your instant attention.
Since forming in 2007 and releasing their self-titled debut EP in 2009, they have played a blinding set at Homegrown this year and chopped in from nowhere to open for Vampire Weekend to much acclaim.
Glitter Guts, with album artwork comprising a close- up of a pig's ear and fish guts, is simply outstanding. Every song on this four-track EP is memorable, unique and compelling.
Opener Violins and Violence actually uses violins to savage effect. It sounds implausible, but I've never heard violins sound so wounding.
Human Heart From Modern Art is equal parts Franz Ferdinand and Radiohead.
Licking Plastic is the standout. Containing just three lines - Claw the fabric of an important demographic/Wear chucks to the show/Licking plastic up against liquid walls - the thrusting bassline and soaring instrumentation stab home the fact that this group is not like the other commercial tripe dominating our airwaves.
Knives At Noon? Knives anytime.
