Description
The band's debut album first released in NZ in 1996, Te Vaka which means "The Canoe" has been descibed as "a stereotype smashing glimpse into the true soul of the South Seas. It does away with the preconceptions that Pacific music is only Ukuleles and Palm trees.
"I was fortunate to have grown up in a place where I was exposed to Tokelauan, Tuvaluan and Samoan traditional music and dance. This was the music that captured my heart and I grew to love." Opetaia Foa'i
Te Vaka's debut album features traditional and contemporary, percussive music from the South Seas.
