Martin Winch was arguably one of NZ’s most versatile & best guitarists.
He was a session musician who played jazz, rock, fusion, blues, with acoustic & electric guitar & appeared with numerous bands in a career spanning from the 1970’s to 2000’s.
For those who have doubts about his capability check out his version of Crossroads at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv_eChY5qL0&index=1&l
or "After midnight" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45on-okHjJU
or "Lodestone" from his 1980 album "Sahara" at http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=24225&
Martin was best known for his album Espresso Guitar released in 1998 which sold over 100,000 copies in NZ alone & Espresso Guitar 2. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRZ0cW2g2Hg
Martin died in 2011 from cancer but his memory lives on in his music & this guitar, which I bought from Martin in 1995.
It is a vintage 1989 US Fender Stratocaster Plus in metallic blue (called blue pearl dust). Martin took out the lace pickups that came with the guitar & replaced them with 1992 Seymour Duncan SSL 1 single coil pickups, which he preferred so I have left the guitar as he set it up in 1995 with the single coil pickups installed & the original lace pickups also come with the guitar.
The serial number places it from 1989 to 1990 & the guitar is recognised as one of the best guitars that Fender produced with Fender/Wilkinson roller nut system reducing friction & binding, Biflex truss rod, TBX (Treble-base expander) tone control

Included with the Guitar is a Certificate of Authenticity from Martins wife because she was familiar with the guitar when I bought it. I’ve also included a photo of Martin playing a similar coloured 57 re-issue Strat .
