Description
From the middle/late 1960s this is a Teisco YG-6
Demo video of this guitar posted here: https://youtu.be/oTCRMfAIFOs
These guitars are not common and there is not a lot of info about them. They share a lot with the great TG-64 series but unlike that instrument the YG-6 seems to have only been made in small numbers, (there was a even rarer YB-6 six string bass that is very sort after by collectors).
Anyway, like the TG-64's this YG-6 has a good size and weight and was built well using solid mahogany.
[Side fact: contrary to popular belief, Teisco used solid wood for the guitar bodies. If it's ply, it's probably not Teisco]
GREAT pickups, (3 x square pole) wired in series. 24 3/4" scale and a bit of a beast, big body and pickups with attitude!
Nice neck with the 4x2 headstock. These were sold as ‘World’ guitars by Kawai/Teisco for export probably and this still has the small oval name badge.
Striped aluminum pick guard set on a very cool tobacco burst offset body. All original apart from the two pots and output jack I wired in. They are wired exactly as the original. The rocker switches work well without glitches.
It has the ‘high end’ T-tuners that have the Teisco ‘T’ stamped on the buttons. These tuners are heavy built and still work very well! These came with one of three types of vibrato unit that Teisco used on their higher end guitars. The bridge is also one of the high end types and both bridge and vibrato are highly adjustable..
Standard Teisco brass frets show little wear and play well with low action and good intonation. Apart from a various dings and scratches the guitar has survived all these years rather well! Very good condition.
A 'must have' for any collector of Sixties, Rare or Japanese guitars. With this one you get all three!
It will be packed very well for shipping.
