This is a fully restored Erard 1.8m grand piano from Paris. I have installed new treble strings, new custom made bass strings and new pins. The new hammers are custom made by Abel, Germany, the new rollers and catchers custom made by Desfougeres, France. Other new items include dampers, rep springs, key bushings and damper bushings. The ivory keys are in good condition. The case is I believe rosewood with lovely wood grain, finished in Danish oil. A feature is the delicate intricate fretwork of the music deask and the two adjacent panels. The serial number is 87549, implying it was made in about 1905. These restored Erard grands are sought after by pianists keen to play Chopin on an instrument resembling that envisioned by the composer. This is exciting to play with a rich refined tone, both in pp and ff. The touch is lovely, the cantabile exquisite. A distinctive instrument with unique character and very authentic.
