Description
Born in the Netherlands, Anneke arrived in New Zealand in 1963 and “quickly became part of this clay movement”
Decorated with crosshatches of blue, stripes of orange, and folk-art birds in the same colours, this lovely jug was produced by Anneke during her time in Holland, in 1980.
To describe her work, Rick Rudd coined the phrase ‘New Zealand Delft’ and wrote “Anneke has taken the quintessentially Dutch technique of painting on the dry unfired glaze for much of her work throughout the fifty years she has been working with clay and reinvented it in a contemporary style.”
This piece was highly regarded by the artist, and was kept in her personal collection, until now.
Birds are a consistent motif amongst Borren’s pottery, and this makes for an excellent example of her work for any collector, or a great display piece.
The jug measures: 160h
Pickup is in Eden Terrace. Please feel free to ask any questions, Thanks!
