I have here a beautiful highly decorated hand painted Satsuma Japanese Plate. The scene depicts a stream, house with a water wheel, trees, cliffs and blossom trees (Sakura) Mountains in the background. The colours are of gold, greens orange, pink and shades of browns. The boarder of the Plate has a area of ware to the gold zig zag design but takes nothing away from its beauty. It has a makers stamp on the back of the Plate with the round circle with the cross inside, meaning that this Plate was made by the Shimuzu Clan in the Satsuma prefecture in Japan. Condition for age is very very good. Please click here to ask a question
