An antique DAVENPORT comport or footed bowl or dish. It has the Hop pattern on it and looks to be hand coloured. Davenport appears to have gone out of business in the 1870s-80s odd, and this, by the marks etc appears to be somewhere approx give or take, 1804 - 1820s or thereabouts. The imprssion into the clay is very hard to read, and my camera can not pick it up, so please do not ask. But probably any expert who is interested in almost 200 year old pottery will know about this. (I actually have three pieces on three different auctions, so just search the same auction title and you will find the others - untill they sell of course. But just to make clear, this auction is for ONE piece, and ONE piece only. The same piece that is in the photo) the piece has The Hop pattern (as stamped under neath) on it, and it looks like the transfer or prints have been hand coloured with red. It measures approx 245mm at its widest and approx 65mm high. It has Backstamp of Hop & Davenport, as per photo. Has handwritten in red, 1804 N(?) Has imprinted into it (hard to make out & this is my best guess) a 22 (on top of) DAVENPORT (curved over an image of an) anchor. Then going by what I can make out on the other two auctions, it say OPAQUE. (says Opaque China on the others) Perhaps the 22 signifies 1822 ? or the handwritten number 1804 ?? Condition. Can see no chips or cracks, but there is quite a bit of glaze crazing, and some of that has stained or marked. Someone with great knowledge may be able to remove that, but either way, for a piece that is perhaps 180 - 200 years old, its not bad. One of the front photos shows a real dark shading on rh side, that is more shadow than actual marking, but the other front on one shows it a bit lighter than it really is, and hence in real life its a bit more darker stained. So, darker than the light photo, but lighter than the dark one (on the side) Anyway, sold as is, however old it is. Great for collectors or people who know about these, or for a movie set etc. Thanks. refN2435055A
