An antique DAVENPORT comport or footed bowl or dish. It has the Hop pattern on it & looks to be hand coloured. Davenport appears to have gone out of business in the 1870s-80s odd & this, by the marks etc appears to be somewhere approx give or take, 1804-1820s or thereabouts. The impression into the clay is very hard to read, & my camera can't pick it up, so please do not ask. But probably any expert who is interested in almost 200 year old pottery will know about this. (I actually have three pieces on three different auctions, so just search the same auction title & you will find the others - untill they sell of course. But just to make clear, this auction is for ONE piece, & ONE piece only. The same piece that is in the photo) the piece has The Hop pattern (as stamped under neath) on it, & it looks like the transfer or prints have been hand coloured with red. It measures approx 285mm x 220mm at its widest & approx 70mm high. It has Backstamp of Hop & Davenport, as per photo. Has handwritten in red, a very faded 1804, going by what the others say. Has imprinted into it (hard to make out & this is my best guess) a 22 (on top of) DAVENPORT (curved over an image of an) anchor. Can mostly make out this by comparing all 3 pieces, its my best guess as somes not clear, but makes sense when compared with the others. Going by what I can see on the other auctions, it say OPAQUE CHINA Perhaps the 22 ? signifies 1822 ? or the handwritten number 1804 ? Condition. Flash makes it a little brighter than in real life, but one shows shadow, so not as dark there. No chips, (amazingly!) but has a lage cracks joining, as shown, but still altogether & liveable. There is quite a bit of glaze crazing, & some of that has stained or marked but not too bad I think for its age.(quite clean really I think) Someone with knowledge may be able to remove that, but either way, for a piece that is perhaps 180-200 years old, its not bad. Anyway, sold as is, however old it is. Great for collectors or people who know about these. Thanks. refN2435055C
