Trust and Safety Team
Our Wellington-based team of trust and safety experts works 365 days a year to make sure every Trade Me member can trade with confidence. Whether you’re a buyer or a seller, if things don’t go as smoothly as you’d like, we’ve got your back.
With Trade Me Buyer Protection, if something doesn’t turn up, isn’t as described or turns out to be faulty, you're covered up to $2,500. Which means that as long as you choose Ping or Afterpay when you buy, you can trust every trade. Excludes Motors. Conditions apply.
What to look out for before you purchase
Just look for the Buyer Protection badge on listings where you can pay with Ping or Afterpay. If you’re interested in an item and it doesn’t have the Buyer Protection badge, you can ask the seller to add Ping as a payment option – then you’ll be covered.
What to do if something goes wrong
If things don’t go smoothly with a seller or a buyer and you haven’t been able to work out the issue yourselves, our Trust and Safety team can step in to help out. They’ll investigate the issue and help get things sorted. Learn more about our disputes process.
