Trademe user name: "Mansrobe"

Servicing machines since 1970.

Trained locally, and by overseas mechanics to service Janome, Brother, Pfaff, Elna, Bernina, Singer, Bernette, Riccar, Toyota, New Home, Empisal, Frister & Rossman, and Husqvarna sewing machines and overlockers.

Competent with all brands.

From 1970 to 1980 I worked for the New Zealand Janome Sewing Machine importer, controlling all facets of servicing, spare parts, and training of Janome dealers on repairing sewing machines

From 1980 untill 1986 I managed a retail outlet for a multi brand sewing machine dealer, before becoming self employed in 1986.

In 1990 I formed a 19 year liason with the Brother Sewing Machine Service Centre in Auckland, and became the last stop mechanic for the North Island Brother dealers, repairing any Brother machines that were too difficult for their dealers to sort out.

From 2007 untill 2011 I contracted to service machines for the Pfaff/ Husqvarna N.Z importer.

Nowdays I am happy to do servicing for the general public, and sell some reconditioned machines on Trademe.

Don't worry if you have a sickly old machine. I have the knowledge and ability to repair it properly.

I don't sell new machines, so I won't try to push you into a new one.

Your old machine is bound to be better than a new one, and it costs you nothing to find out whether you should have it repaired or not.

Robert McDonald: I am unsure if I have something to fit or not. I would need to see it. You could ask a Brother dealer. Or you could ask Sewshop on Trademe. Or you can buy here.. http://www.sewingpartsonline.c
om/thread-guide-bar-brother-x7
7735-001.aspx
Hello Robert, Please can you fix the foot control on my Janome My lock 134D, slows up then speeds up after a few times on the foot control, next we are back to slow etc. Please confirm Thanks

Robert McDonald: Hi. Electronic pedals are throw away items. I cannot get the internal parts. A mechanical pedal can be fitted, but the price is similar to buying a new pedal from Janome, complete with cord. Janome have used that same plug since 1986, so you won't have a problem obtaining another one.
question please: Would you have a foot control for an Elna SU please.

Very happy with my recent visit to Robert for servicing my sewing machine. It's a cheap, old, non-brand model from overseas which had several issues. He's sorted it all out and machine running smoother than ever. Many thanks :)

Took my 40year plusElna sewing machine to Robert after reading his reviews on TradeMe. Robert is a gentleman, and a real "old school" tradesman(no disrespect intended)and knows the true meaning of service. He has huge knowledge of machines of all makes and had my sewing machine running like a dream and returned to me within 24 hours. Will definitely use his services again. Many thanks Robert

Hi, I have been given an old brother 760D overlocker but the needle plate is missing. I don't think they make parts for this model anymore so was wondering if you might have a used one around that you would be willing to part with? thank you for your time.

Hi there, Wondered if you knew if a Bernette 335 Overlocker does 4 thread? As I know it does 3 thread & 5 thread chain stitch. Also thought it did 4? Much appreciated.

Hi Robert, I bought my Juki Mo-50e overlocker a few months ago on trademe. It was brand new. However after using it only two times I'd never seem to get the stitch right. After trying to re-thread and adjusting the tension, it became even worse. Now I feel like the left and right needle thread tension seems too tight and would not move at all even though I have adjusted it to the lowest tension. Can you please advise if you can have a look at my overlocker and how much would it cost for repair?

Hi Robert. I have a very old sick Elna. I'm sure it can be fixed with a service but I'd like a change of machine. Do you take old machines to recondition as a trade in for an already reconditioned one you have in stock?

Hi Robert I have a Janome machine - about 20 years old but was working brilliantly till today, when a needle broke, replaced it, but it's not stitching any more. It needs a service anyway, but wondered if you are ever in town to do a pick up or is it delivery to you in Titirangi only? cheers Sarah 021336440

Robert McDonald: Please make an appointment to bring the machine to my workshop. I will advise you on the spot whether it is worth repairing and approximately how much it will cost
