Silva Expedition S Compass

The Expedition S mirror-sighting compass represents the next step in advanced outdoor navigation. An easy handling housing features silicon rubber feet for precision map work, luminous markings for night time navigation, magnifying lense and measuring scales in millimetres and inches. Romer scales 1:50.000 and 1:25.000 and GPS scales. This model has permanent compensation for magnetic declination, a clinometer for measuring slope angle and 45o angle assistance on the mirror-sighting function.

The easiest way to set a course towards the lake is with a simple and safe system used by expeditions, youth organisations, mountain guides, armies, orienteers and other navigators the world over: the Silva 1-2-3 System(R)

• Place the compass on the map with the edge of the compass along the desired line of travel. Make sure Direction of Travel arrow points towards your destination.
• Rotate the compass housing until N on the dial points North on the map. Check that the compass housing red/black North/South lines are parallel with the map's meridians.
