Description
Harrington and Richards (I'm sure) single barrel 30inch 12 guage hammer gun. this is sleeved with a 30/30cal barrel inside the shotgun barrel. the barrel as a result is very heavy and absorbs 90% of recoil. the barrel is re-blued. the action coated with a kind of silvery stippled hardened surface. the hammer trigger opening barrel lever and the but plate are all brass plated. the stock has been professionally repaired and is solid and strong. fitted with open sights. no provision yet for any scope mounting. a picatinny rail would easily mount.
when I say it was a professional job I mean it.. it was done by STATUS GUNS of Invercargill. my contact there was Nelson Collie a real gentleman. this build cost me $2300.00. yes I know far too much, but it sure is a good looking rifle.
Loading------ Nelson was always concerned about too much pressure and turned down many of my loading suggestions while planning the build. He went with 30/30 to be safe and I accepted that.
Further------- I am using low pressure loadings with ADI powder and lead projectiles. it is surprisingly accurate, virtually no recoil. I will give the buyer my load info.
here is a great chance to buy a unique solid rifle shooting lead. it will take down most medium game out to short to medium range. 200 yards would be the limit. it shoots 173g and 150g lead bullets equally well.BUT DO NOT IGNORE MY WARNING. DO NOT PUT MODERN HIGH POWER LOADS LIKE HORNADY LEVERLOUTION. you may end up wearing the rifle.
happy bidding. If you look at page 86 of the latest guns and hunting mag, there is a very good article on down loading the 30.30 and how it still makes a very versatile killer.
