As an adjunct to Quentin Pongia's Tribute Luncheon hosted by Sir Peter Leitch The Mad Butcher being held on June 7th at the Ellerslie Event Centre we felt the need to offer the opportunity for people who are not able to attend to participate in a special offering such as this jersey signed by so many Warrior and Kiwi Legends (see details attached). All proceeds will go to Quentin's 2 year daughter Maia.

One of New Zealand’s finest forwards of the modern era, firstly as a wide-ranging second-rower and then taking on the even greater physical challenges in the front row. Quentin moved to Christchurch in 1988 and was selected for the Junior Kiwis. Played for Canterbury at senior level in 1991 and 1992 and made his Kiwis debut in 1992.

NRL clubs soon became interested in him and he signed for the Canberra Raiders before the 1993 season. He was a member of Canberra’s 1994 Grand Final winning team as well as appearing for the Warriors, Sydney Roosters and, briefly, St George Illawarra. He also enjoyed great success in the Northern Hemisphere.

In 2003 Quentin won a French Championship title with the Villeneuve club before he signed for Wigan and appeared in a Super League Grand Final. Quentin’s international career spanned 35 Test matches and 8 other games for the Kiwis between 1992 and 2000, retiring after that year’s World Cup tournament.

In 1996 he was in the New Zealand team which whitewashed Great Britain in three Tests at home. In 1997 and 1998 Quentin shared in two of the Kiwis’ finest Test victories over the Kangaroos, both at North Harbour Stadium.

Quentin was made Kiwis captain when Matthew Ridge retired during the 1998 series against Australia and he led them to their only unbeaten Test series on British soil, winning two of the three Tests and drawing the other.

Since his retirement, Quentin has served as both strength and conditioning coach and assistant coach of the Canberra Raiders, assistant trainer with the Kiwis and as well-being officer at the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
