DIECAST METAL VW MADE BY MIDGETOYS ROCKFORD ILLINOIS . AFTER THE BOOMTIMES OF W.W.2. A&E TOOL and GAGE WERE RELUCTANT TO LAY-OFF STAFF AND ALREADY HAD SOME EXPERIENCE TOOLING WORK FOR MAJOR TOY MAKERS. EVENTUALLY THEIR DIECAST TOYS WERE ONLY RANKED SECOND TO MARKET GIANT TOOTSIE TOYS. AFTER SELLING UP IN 1981 THE BUSINESS DIDN'T SUCCEED AND CLOSED IN 1985. IN THE 1990s THE ORIGINAL OWNERS STARTED PRODUCING AGAIN AND THIS MODEL DATES FROM THEN THE RATHER CRUDE PAINTING IS FACTORY ORIGINAL. TOY MEASURES 3in/75mm LONG.
